Pros: Supplier Flytec Computers does a great job delivering Ubiquiti products on Newegg. All legit. USG is not as expansive as EdgeRouter. Switch to command line with USG and you get it all back. Great for people that want to consolidate their UniFi system. This company is going places. Cons: Eventually the UniFi controller will support more features on the USG, but it takes time. Overall their products are great if you got the technical skills and like to dig in.

Pros: – Unplug your expensive but worthless wireless router. Plug the USG into your modem and directly into a PC. Use the management software to configure DHCP, plug it into a switch with a Ubiquiti AP, adopt the AP and create an SSID and password, and it’s done. – Obviously, it’s also great for wired networking. – If you want this for your home but don’t have any networking knowledge, don’t sweat. Read online and maybe tinker the tiniest bit, and this will give you a much better experience than any normal consumer hardware. – You can spend a little over $200 and get a better experience from Ubiquiti than any all in one wireless router. Cons: – Nothing Overall Review: – The cloud key is not at all necessary, but does give you the ability to manage from the app or remotely without having the controller software running on a PC. – Deep Packet Inspection, and all of the other statistics available in the management software are just super neat. – If you pair it with APs, you can have multiple SSIDs, captive portal for guests, and even use it as a RADIUS server.

Pros: So many options to configure your network and keep it secure. easy to use with all other modules from ubiquity and keep a common interface. Buy the cloud key it’s totally worth it. Cons: I can’t think of one

Pros: – Integrates easily. If you don’t jump ahead of the directions – Was able to replace my ActionTech RH1000 Router as the gateway for my fiberop internet – Adds a lot of useful information to the Unifi Eco-system – Is actually performing above specs for when DPI is enabled currently (This is likely because this is a home network with 2 users and about 10 clients). Cons: – If you aren’t careful, getting it to adopt is a pain if it’s an existing ecosystem. If it is an existing ecosystem, you want to connect the LAN1 port to your network and then adopt the device. Once adopted you can configure the network (In unifi under Settings-> Network), saving the settings will provision it. While provisioning it, you can then go into Devices in Unifi and select the device and configure the WAN port while it provisions, then queue and apply it as well. Once set, then you can swap the old router out. Overall Review: This, with the proper configuration, can be used to replace the ActionTech RH1000 Routers that used to come with FibreOp Installs fairly easy if it is internet only or internet/TV. I have internet only, so it was a snap to do, but with this guy, you could use the LAN1 Port for your internet and the WAN2/LAN2 (Shows as VOIP port on the product images, but its now a secondary LAN/WAN port depending on needs) for the TV portion. If you were to have all 3, I would recommend going with the step up from this one, but it is doable with some additional linux packages for the router.

Pros: This is a great router, a lot of stuff is abstracted out, and you need a gateway, but it does the job really well and I am very pleased with it. Cons: I really can’t say there is a con about this router. My needs are reasonably simple, so if you are looking for much more granular control, you ought to look at the EdgeRouter series of products.

Pros: Very snappy for the hardware that is in them Excellent updates, and on point team Excellent support Cons: Lack of basic ports Some limitations that may be temporary with rules and such in the software Overall Review: This router has an excellent support chain, and I would recommend it for any business.

Pros: Works with UniFi controller and is relatively easy to manage Gives you that full chain in the unifi controller (full unifi stack with the switch and wifi) Cons: Many of the more complicated configurations are not possible via the unifi controller and require more in-depth knowledge of configuration. This unit is also quite old and given that the price has not dropped, I would now consider it ‘overpriced’. But this is the cheapest option you currently have to have a complete unifi setup. Runs hot — the passive cooling doesn’t seem adequate at times. Onboard storage uses an internal usb-stick which, according to forum reports, has died requiring people to look for replacement and recover. Overall Review: This is the cheapest option in the unifi stack for routing but given the hardware seems quite expensive. Ubiquiti’s edge-line, while more command-line driven has a cheaper option (EdgeRouter X) which is around half the price of this unit but very capable. If you want to have a unifi full stack solution, but don’t want to shell out for a higher-level router, this is your only choice. Also, if you absolutely do not want to deal with a command-line this is also probably a good choice. For all others, I would recommend taking a look at the EdgeRouter X or an alternative solution.
