Pros: Installation as easy. Thyey work OK for non-streaming non-zoom Internet access. Cons: Too slow and spotty for streaming or zooms. Overall Review: Slow and spotty Internet. Do not buy.

Overall Review: It came nowhere close to the advertised Gbps. I followed the instructions to the T, and then used the troubleshooting guide when my speeds were much slower than advertised. I have Verizon Fios Gigabit, and typically get above 300 Mbps on my WiFi (upload and download). When I had this in the same room as my router, I got around 50 Mbps, while my desktop in another room was getting less than 10 Mbps.

Pros: -Allowed me to remove non-mobile internet capable devices from the home WiFi network, for example: PCs, and Apple TVs. -Easy to follow instructions and installation -Home plug adapter management software is helpful and worth downloading and using. Cons: I have not figured out how to turn off encryption for the home plug adapters. I live in a house and am more concerned with bandwidth than encryption for the home plug adapters. This is not a big con, as I have not spent much time researching how to disable encryption. Overall Review: These adapters have proven a good replacement for Netgear 500 models that served me well. Good price to performance ratio. In an eleven year old home, bandwidth for the adapters ranges between 205 megabits per second to 403 megabits per second.

Pros: + simple pairing + stable and robust + easy to get ethernet to remote areas of your home Cons: – no way you are going to get gigabit Overall Review: Gigabit over powerline is a pipe dream from what I have seen and even on the same circuit you aren’t going to get close. Still though if you need to get ethernet to a remote area of your home this is the easiest method.

Pros: Better than a wireless connection in most cases. Cons: Nowhere near as good as a wired connection. Overall Review: Well, as I expected the Gigabit speeds were greatly exaggerated. I expected the best I could hope for was 100Mbps, but even that proved to be optimistic. I’m topping out a 25Mbps and in some outlets I can only get 10Mbps. But the device works as advertised and the connection doesn’t drop or slow down the way my wireless connection on this machine had been doing, so I can’t complain. Just don’t expect it to replace a real wired connection or to get anywhere near the listed speed.

Pros: Easy to setup. Plug and play. Really they either work or they don’t. Cons: They aren’t that fast. Speed tests were generally faster on weak Wi-Fi. I think with right circuit they could be faster. Overall Review: These might be worth using in a specific set of circumstances. I was able to move the mesh routers around to catch just enough signal that mesh was still the better option. The speed of these adapters seems really random. I would say much about the electrical circuit will affect the speeds: length, electrical noise, wiring age, number of outlets, etc. Use these as a last ditch effort, but in most homes I think even weak or partial Wi-Fi signal will be the faster option. As much as I wanted them to work, they just aren’t the same as a real Ethernet cable connection point A to Point B.

Pros: Very easy to set up and get working. Just as fast as if I plugged directly into the switch directly. Much easier and cheaper than running an Ethernet cable for a new jack. Especially good when making changes like that to an old building gets complicated. When I’m done using that room I can easily unplug them and use them elsewhere. No permanent changes. Cons: Not so much a con as a reminder. These devices need to be on the same electrical circuit. In older buildings with years of electrical work by different people that can be a challenge. Sometimes the circuits don’t make much sense. Overall Review: As long as everything lines up electrically and you don’t mind giving up the outlets these work great. The concept and tech are sound you just have to make sure the circumstances support their use.
