Pros: – Nothing fancy, just a relatively basic HD camcorder – Stabilization is a nice feature – Mic is surprisingly live – Color rendition is good – Very lightweight – Easy to hold – Easy to use viewfinder – Pretty inexpensive Cons: – Image when zoomed in somewhat is a bit pixilated/jumpy/blurry – Offloading images seems to require use of Sony PlayMemories s/w which is clumsy – No way to use an external mic Overall Review: If your quality needs are not too high and all you really need is creating decent videos, this camcorder seems to fit the bill.

Pros: – Large memory card support, 256gb is the largest I can verify but the instructions don’t mention a limitation. – Light weight – Good battery life with supplied battery – One shortcut can be created to access many functions without searching the menu Cons: – Video quality isn’t as great – Almost every function is accessed via menu/”joystick” button – Menu requires more scrolling and selecting than the Canon menu system – Shutter operation is manual – ONLY one shortcut can be created to access many functions without searching the menu Overall Review: Surprisingly, video quality isn’t vastly better than an old 480 Canon I have. It’s a light weight camera that offers basic functionality but the light weight gives the camcorder a “cheap” feel. The Sony menu system isn’t as easy as Canon’s but is sufficient for basic use. Sony has chosen to eliminate as many buttons as possible, forcing you to fumble with the menu to access any feature EXCEPT Start/Stop recording, zoom, and photo capture. Overall it’s a decent camcorder if your needs are basic.
