Pros: Works Large Capacity 5 Year Warranty Better Value than Iron Wolf/Barracuda/14TB drives 7200 RPM Fast transfer rates Cons: Cost – this will always be a complaint with someone! Overall Review: Works perfectly in SuperMicro 847 case. Formatted is 12.733. Before anyone starts complaining, all manufactures state their capacity in TB meaning 14 TB = 1,000,000,000,000 bytes. So a true TB is 2^40 power. 12.733*2^40 = 14 TB. Same is for WD, Hitachi, etc. So far, humming along just fine in Raid…

Pros: Bought 4 of these in January to update capacity for my Plex Media Server. When transferring files I was able to write up to 220 MB’s at times though average speeds where in the 150/160 range. I replaced 3 5TB and 5 6TB drives. Was able to copy a full 6TB drive in just under 8 hours. One thing I noticed when disconnecting old drives several weeks later. The old drives where so hot I could not keep my hand on them more then a few seconds. I touched the new drives and they where barely…

Pros: Replacement working great. Fast, big, cheap. What more can you ask for (other than not getting DOA) Cons: DOA Overall Review: Sigh…. I’ve had good luck with Seagate in the past, and I’ll try again. Spins up and just makes clicking sounds. Not recognized by BIOS in several machines. I’ll update after I get my replacement from New Egg…. After a painless replacement (about 1 week end-to-end from “it’s failed” to new drive in hand) the new drive is working flawlessly. Still 1 egg off…

Overall Review: I’m loving these drives. They are a little bit overkill for a home NAS, but I wanted to build a shared volume that could take better advantage of my 10g network. I have 4 of them in a RAID10, and I’m loving the performance. In terms of noise, my only comparison is an array of 10TB Ironwolfs, and these Exos are louder. The Ironwolfs were never loud enough to be heard over the quiet NAS case fans, but the new Exos can be heard when they seek. I imagine most people buying…

Pros: Worked with no issues, large capacity, pretty fast for mechanical drives Cons: Not the quietest drives I have ever used. Overall Review: I wanted to add a large amount of reliable storage to my home network on a budget. This seemed to be the best deal available for large capacity drives at the time. I paired two with a Synology DS220j. These booted and formatted with Synology Hybrid Raid (SHR) in a few minutes with approximately 12.6 TiB total capacity. All in all, a great solution…

Pros: – The drives idle at 30-32 C and get up to 36-38 C at full load – Even at full load, the noise is much quieter than I expected – A single drive can get writes up to 260 megabytes per second and sustain a solid 220+ during large transfers Cons: – None so far Overall Review: I purchased a batch of drives as it was my first time running Seagate drives in many years. After a solid month of testing and burn in with no issues, I was convinced and bought a second batch. I am extremely happy…

Cons: Loved the dents. Box was not damaged. Static shield was unopened but looks like it had a label on it that was later removed. Perhaps the label said “DAMAGED”? The bubble wrap was unsealed but was covering the drive in the box. On top of this I checked Seagate’s website and 6 months of the 5 year warranty was already gone. Yeah, right. This drive is sold out nearly everywhere, and I’m supposed to believe it was sitting on a shelf somewhere for 6 months before being shipped to me….
