Pros: The make and model of the drive enclosed was Seagate ST8000DM004-2CX188 (which would cost more if purchased as a bare drive – Newegg item N82E16822183793). The power supply comes with 240V adapters for US and Europe. Cons: Encrypting the volume would have taken 3 days running at 26 MB/s. I removed the drive from the housing (a.k.a. “shuck” the drive) then placed it in a Unitek HDD docking station – the ETA dropped to 11 hours running at 185 MB/s. Pros: I use GoodSync to backup all of my hard drives to two of these continuously. A 4 year old one failed so I bought this new one Cons: My last one could have lasted FOREVER rather than just 4 years Overall Review: I wouldn’t keep buying them if I wasn’t happy with them

Pros: The drive is quieter than I expected and is nice and low profile with just the one led lighting up to indicate it’s on. It’s out of the way and unobtrusive. It’s nice to have a bigger archive storage that is being used for the cameras and family photos and videos so it is serving that purpose well. I don’t really need it to be faster than what it is cause there isn’t really anything I need to transfer from it that will be large files. Comes with more adapters than I will ever need or…

Pros: I’ll let you know in 10 days. EDIT: Well, after using for a couple weeks I have to say it’s nice. The HD is reliable, but I think I will pick up another just to have redundancy. Cons: It’s estimating 10 days for a full format/erase. oh my. Overall Review: I’m more concerned about the drive quality than the USB performance, so I’ll deal with the slow USB speed.
