Pros: Nikon quality many features for the “beginner” and “pro” alike easy to get up and running quickly but plently of options to make it a great learning tool for a long time into the future Obviously — the greatest it enables me to take some fantastic shots Cons: None. Overall Review: Love to take short movies with it. Excellent quality.

Pros: Extremely high pixel count Extremely high picture quality Decent kit lens considering you get it for “free” Excellent battery time Good value considering the quality of this camera… it’s expensive, sure… but that’s the price you pay for DSLR Cons: No real cons I can think of. Doesn’t have some of the on-camera filter modes and effects that the higher end D5x00 series has, but then again, they are much pricier. Overall Review: I bought this camera at a different retailer, but I wanted to write a review here since Newegg is my go-to place for most of my electronic purchasing (and review writing/reading). I bought this for me and my wife, as we are expecting the birth of our first child in September. My wife always wanted to learn “real” photography (i.e., not just point-and-shoot), so I figured I’d take the leap with this high quality entry level DSLR. First of all, this thing takes beautiful pictures… even with the kit lens and even on regular “Auto” (point and shoot) settings. On top of that, it has a “Guide” mode to help new aspiring photographers. You answer some questions, and it provides you with suggested optimized settings, and tells you why it picked them/what they are. Very helpful for newbies like us. As far as the more “professional” features go (the “priority” modes: P, S, A, and M), most of the functionality of higher end cameras are there. Coupled with better glass, this is a formidable small body DSLR. Another strong suit of this camera is 1080p full HD video recording. Videos look terrific, although if you don’t have a steady hand or a tripod, it can look a little “bouncy”… also the autofocus can sometimes be a little erratic in video mode. Overall, though, these issues are fairly common for video shot from cameras like this. Bottom line: I’m very happy with my purchase. I have so much fun with this camera (I think even more than my wife does!), and can’t wait for our newest “test subject” to be born in September! I definitely recommend this camera for anyone who wants to get into higher end DSLR photography, without taking a huge 4-figure leap into something new. Great entry level shooter!

Pros: Its light weight. Easy to use. The Viewfinder makes the battery go longer. Menu is easy to use and easy to navigate tru the many features it has. I really recommend this camera for any beginner user. Amazing Camera over all.. Cons: Doesn’t make me breakfast..

Pros: I was told that this is the best dslr for beginners and I think it is really good. I am learning all the iso, shutter speed, aperture, etc and my photo quality is getting better! it is fun and easy. Cons: It only comes with the body and lens (and battery, charger, and some cords for connecting to computer..).. you will have to buy the tripod and camera bag separately. Overall Review: shipping was delayed by about a week due to the ice/snow storm.

Pros: Shipped quickly and received this product in a timely manner. Camera is performing well, for basic use. Cons: None come to mind.

Pros: User friendly Small frame Kit lens isn’t that bad 1080P video at higher framerate than competitors Cons: none to speak of Overall Review: Bought this as my first DSLR and I’m impressed with it. The 18-55 lens is a pretty good kit lens that takes decent pictures, but I’m sure I’ll want to upgrade in the near future. This will be a great camera for me to learn on. For now, the guided shoot mode works well enough for me.

Pros: camera operates as it should Cons: did not come with the box pictured, came in a plain white box and had a finger print on the lens.. shipping label said new but this looks like a refurb to me. kinda takes the value down a notch when being purchased as a gift. Overall Review: didn’t create the review to critique the technical aspect of the camera, aside from the non-factory packaging, everything is in order and here. functions as described.
