Pros: Lifetime warranty (except for the AC adapter) Metal case, heavy for its size Brick power supply instead of a “wall wart” Cons: none found Overall Review: This is the current v3 model, while Newegg’s photo wrongly shows an older, larger version. The size, about 6.25 x 4 inches, matches the GS108E switch I’ve used for a year. This one adds PoE and works fine to power a Cisco SPA504 phone. The switch’s power adapter (48 volts) is a “brick” type with detachable grounded power cable, not a “wall wart”.

Pros: This switch is able to power a 4 APs ( ZyXEL NWA1123-AC) and provide VLAN support for multiple SSIDs. We are using several ProSAFE Plus switches and they seem to work well together. EDIT 3/16/2017 – Switched out the ZyXEL units for Ubiquiti UAP-AC-PRO access points and it all still workds great Cons: Not many options for managing QoS but you get what you pay for. Overall Review: If using the PC management program to manage multiple switches make sure it is updated to the latest version as prior versions may not talk to newer switches.

Pros: This can easily be all you need for a small home office setup. Even better, with the trunking and VLAN capabilities, it integrates very well with higher end managed core switches, when you only have 1 cable run to an office, but need a couple phones, printers, and workstations, etc … It properly handles PC’s plugged into the backs of phones, and supporting/filtering both VLANs through the same port. Easy to use management software, which finds them all on the extended LAN with ease, making managing several of them in a hybrid network a breeze. Cons: Users moving wires around, not realizing the difference in voice vs data vlans, and that some ports have POE, but not all. Overall Review: I did have a user manage to plug the wire from the back of the phone, intended for the PC, back into the switch creating a spanning tree loop. The core switch properly shut down the trunk line to this switch. It’s fun when you can demonstrate to a end-user why they should be calling you instead of attempting things themselves.

Pros: I’m using it for the last couple of years and it works very well. Will run out of Ethernet ports soon as I prefer to hardwire my equipment like dvd player/tv/receiver instead of wifi but that’s my problem. Cons: none so far

Pros: Powers access points with PoE Provides GUI configuration options for port mirroring for my IDS system Cons: The Netgear GUI tool is a little tricky to figure out, and requires Adobe AIR to be installed to function correctly. Once you install Adobe Air the onscreen directions are not the best but, it does work once you figure out how to log onto the switch. Overall Review: I need a PoE switch for my wireless access points that could also give me port mirroring for my cyber security tools. This switch does both.

Pros: Works fine. Cons: My existing camera was not POI, my bad for not checking first. Will be getting one soon. Overall Review: Power adapter has long cords, the wart is several feet from plug

Pros: I needed a few extra ports from my router and also needed a PoE connection to a remote mounted Wireless Access Point – it has been working flawlessly for 6 months Cons: None – plug and play / no setup needed Overall Review: Great router, I tried a Netgear router a few years ago and liked it so much that I use Netgear when ever I can
