Logitech S150 USB Stereo Speakers

Pros: These USB speakers have crystal clear sound with no buzz or hum. The volume is plenty loud for normal use. They are perfect for listening to music while I work. The stereo effect and ability to produce faint sounds are excellent. No bulky, power strip hogging adapter is needed. The speakers turn on and off with the computer. The USB drivers installed automatically (Windows XP). I cannot believe these speakers are so inexpensive. Cons: The shipping cost almost as much as the speakers. There is not much bass, but there is more than I expected with small speakers. Music still sounds very good. The bass is certainly better than earphones. Overall Review: I was hesitant to go with USB, but I am very happy I did. I wanted to be able to use these in a bedroom, I wanted zero noise with the computer off, and I did not want to have to remember to turn the speaker power off. Each speaker is 6.5″H x 2.75″W x 2.25″D. The USB cord is about 4′ and is about the same length as my keyboard and mouse. I like the power light that reads “DIGITAL”. The buttons on the front directly control the Windows volume bar with a mute button in the middle. If the volume level is too loud, you can double click the Windows volume icon and reduce the volume input of the “Wave” device.

Pros: -They play sound -Good form factor (flattened sides are rather nice now that I think about it) Cons: Volume control on these speakers is almost nonexistent. Allow me to walk you through the various levels from 0 to 100: 0 – mute 1 – VERY LOUD 2-100 – slightly louder This is in no way an exaggeration. All applications have to be individually turned down in order to attain a normal volume with the speakers at 1%. Overall Review: This is not an isolated incident. I know this because I have read posts by plenty of others experiencing the same problem. I have searched many times, but have not found a permanent solution thus far. There is obviously a terrible fault in this product and the fact that it has such a high rating (4 eggs as of this posting) is unacceptable. I am giving this two eggs instead of just one because if it weren’t for this volume issue, the speakers would be terrific.

Pros: One USB connection for both power and signal is what I was looking for, and for the price paid the sound is much better than I had expected… good choice for a netbook. On-the-speaker volume control is a great feature if you have a netbook, no more fumbling around with multiple keys to adjust the volume. There are no batteries to have to charge or replace. Cons: The only Con I could find is that you cannot separate the two speakers from one another they are wired directly to one another, this makes it more dificult to pack them away for transport. Overall Review: These speakers were seen by and were fully functional with Ubuntu 12.04… two thumbs up Logitech! I would have liked to have seen these speakers connected with a removable connector between them… It would make packing them away in the messenger bag much easier… perhaps retractable cables??? Another feature that would be nice to see would be a way to physically connect the two together for transportation. Over-all a decent upgrade for the dreadful netbook sound system.
