Pros: Start up, shut down, sleep, and wake times are negligible. Applications: open and close in seconds, compression and extraction, encoding; everything rips with this drive. Battery life: not significantly longer but I imagine it must be somewhat longer due to the decreased power-draw Heat & Noise: drive generates much less heat and noise than a conventional spinning disk Data security: SLC means I probably will replace the drive before it fails. Dropping my laptop (I’m clumsy) doesn’t…

Pros: -SLC technology with very fast read and write times -low power consumption -rugged, good for on-the-go computing Cons: -expensive -not a whole lot of space for the cost (compared to MLC type SSD’s) Overall Review: i own 4 SSD units, 1 is intel, 2 are OCZ and the last is a SaberTooth. 3 out of 4 are SLC type memory which i find to be quite superior to MLC if very fast read/write are neccesary. If I were to buy another SSD today and price didnt matter i would choose either Intel or OCZ.

Pros: SLC rather than MLC. Still a 7.7 user experience in Windows. Cons: Does NOT support TRIM (which means it will degrade over time). Not that you can find that info easily on Intel.com. Also, only SATA II (3gb) not the new SATAIII (6 Gb). No cable or instructions or anything in the box. NOT RETURNABLE. Overall Review: If you need to flash the firmware do so first, because it erases the drive (from what I read; but mine came with firmware actually newer than what was available on the Intel…

Pros: As someone previously complained of, the lack of TRIM on this drive will likely be negligible to the longevity of the drive. Because this drive is SLC flash memory, and that’s where you’re paying the premium, the voltage tolerance within the memory is much higher, meaning it takes many, many more erase cycles to degrade the memory as compared to MLC. I don’t know the hard information, but I’d be willing to bet that even without trim, the drive will last significantly longer than an MLC…

Pros: I had purchased my first Intel X25-E 64GB almost six years ago. I installed it in a Dell XPS-410 desktop PC. Outragious? Yes, I know, but ho cares? I was so impressed by the speed that I added another not too long after to run two of them in Raid 0 giving a 120GB-equivalent ultra fast hard drive. You want speed from a hard drive? These will give you speed. And I’ve never had one fail yet in nearly six years! They open applications, even Microsoft Office just about instantly! These days…
