Pros: Small, good price, QUALITY BUILD, flexible Cons: Not all SSDs will work ! Do a search on this… Samsung EVO 860 do seem to be accepted (we used the MZ-76E500 / 500GB version w/o issue) Overall Review: VERY, VERY good price/performance! Quality chassis design and solid chassis build. Very good BIOS. Impressed with what HP has in its server line these days.

Pros: – Use all the same management and update tools as it’s big brothers in the data center- HP build quality- Quiet- ILO Cons: – 32GB limit (officially — some say 64GB is possible)- all documentation is on-line, but to their credit is easy to navigate- onboard RAID supports Window only Overall Review: I bought this to run ESXi 7 at home, supporting a handful of small VMs. Installing ESXi to a USB stick for boot was pretty easy, and everything just worked out of the box.

Overall Review: Really looking forward to gen11. Microserver fist all the needs I have for a home server.

Pros: (1) FreeBSD 12.2 can run on this machine, albeit with a few unsupported hardware components that I haven’t missed in four months of running it. This device’s listing on http://bsd-hardware.info/ was accurate. (2) Price! (3) Four gigabit NICs, all working under FreeBSD. (4) Low-power, though I haven’t measured it. On paper it’s half the idle power as a similarly-spec’d machine I’ve used as a workstation. Cons: None so far. Overall Review: I’ve been recommending this to all my IT…

Pros: Runs latest vSphere/ESX 7.0.2 using Generic installer image. Dont use HPE customized installer image as it crashed near setup menu and was never able to install. Lots of drive bays (4 total) nice compared to my NUCs. I used for my storage node 2 SSDs and 2 fast ssd/tradition hybrid drives. Cons: Wish it supported 64GB ram like my NUCs More cores would also be great, but main purpose is for chassis with 4 drive bays. Overall Review: Very much like this as it adds to my home lab of many…

Overall Review: This server is running 24/7 – just added an SSD disk. Primary use is as VPN server – it has 4 gigabit Ethernet ports in the back, allows flexible network combinations. The speed is decent, much better than any off the shelf router I used before. Temperature: It’s located inside a closed room where my furnace & water heater are and is running under 50C most of the time. Overall I am really happy, specially that is half the size of my previous box.
