Pros: Juste use the 123.hp.com to setup your printer. Works like a charm. Was able to add to use our wireless connection so no need to add network cable or USB. Cons: Don’t use the CD in the box. Just go to 123.hp.com. Way easier Overall Review: HP printers are the way to go.

Pros: Prints. Cheap. Laser. HP. 18000+ prints (it says) on the toner that comes with. Lots of options for web printing, airprint, direct wifi, ‘regular’ wifi, USB, ethernet. Cons: Too many options. Tricky to set up correctly – like a router, if not trickier. Mom and Dad are not going to be able to set this up without help. The software install was not nearly as straightforward as you’d think on either platform. Mac app store prompts you to use the “HP Smart” app first thing, that’s not going to work. You have to go to 123.hp.com and get the driver package before it will be detected. Then the Smart app works, once it’s already working. In the end I got it on wifi and didn’t bother with direct print or web print or other modes. The HP firmware update would NOT run on OSX Big Sur! “Software needs updating”It’s unlikely HP will get around to it. Still, it does print once you get it dialed in. I bought it thinking HP would be a no-brainer install on the SW side. Nope. The “smart” app is pretty garbage. If you enable notifications it will spam you saying the toner and drum are installed, but not registered or authenticated. It’s on the wifi but can’t authenticate the genuine HP toner.Seriously? So I turned off notifications. Overall Review: Good hardware, print quality is decent, plenty of options, price is good, I’d recommend this.Just prepare for an hour of trying to get it to work which I’ve rarely experienced with printers.Overly complex, moderate skill level to set up securely and get all modes dialed in.

  4. Jack from Kelowna, BC

Pros: Print quality is excellent, it prints fast and in full-duplex, WiFi works without a glitch. Cons: None to date. Overall Review: The printer arrived by courier and was in its original packaging. Setting it was a breeze. Overall, I am very happy and would recommend Newegg and the product to the most demanding clients.
