Pros: – tech support though not available live chat, reply to email first thing in am to resolve problem – good transfer speed (so far) – good encasement for the drive Cons: Never even work. First one, drive not even recognized by windows (running win 10). Did not show up on disk management. Tried different usb ports, same thing. Returned (newegg is very fantastic regarding this), sent a new one. Tried it again, this time came up on disk mgmt, right click on it to initialize the disk, all…

Pros: The product was accurately represented, drive’s read/write speeds average around 174 mbs, which will work for my needs. I’ve only had the drive for a few weeks so It’s too soon to discuss reliability. Cons: None have come up as of this time. Overall Review: Product is well built, fully functioning, pricing was competitive, packaging was protective and delivery ahead of schedule. I appreciate New Eggs selection of vendors along with their customer service. I would purchase (at this…

Pros: -Price, storage capacity Cons: -Corrupted drive during game play (Warzone). Have to reformat drive and lose 2TB worth of backed up data from home PCs and laptops. Fortunately, I still have most files still on the other devices. Overall Review: It definitely does not give me piece of mind having a back up drive that isn’t reliable. I’ll be getting a back up for a back up soon.

Pros: -good price for 8TB-Pre-formatted-no set up required-7200RPM HD Cons: -Runs hot, up to 52C when under constant load. 50C used to be the industry limit but they moved it to 60C-All storage devices read/write transfer speeds depend on file size and numbers. I use this to back up 4 different computers which have hundreds of thousands of small files, and many 20-40GB single image files. I bought this storage drive to replace by aging 2008 1TB LaCie BIG DISK eSATA&USB EXTREM+ 7200RPM U…

Pros: I like the look and format. The case is nice and looks good on my desk. Cons: Drive was used just a few hours a week and failed. The hard drive connection / power card burnt. This drive was in use for only three months and only in the evening after work. So very few hours. The internal 8GB 7200 rpm Seagate drive is fine. I put in a request for support from “Fantom Drives”. They issued a ticket, all automatic online submittal. 18 days have passed and I have not received any help or…

Pros: Worked great then died on me randomly the next day. Cons: Lasted less than a year. Data recovery is a horrible process, not worth the buy. Lost about 6 TB of data. Overall Review: Choose a different product!

  8. KV

Overall Review: I have six Fantom drives now of various capacities and features. I use some for offline storage, some are for backups that I keep in a bank box, and I use one for a media center. I’ve had many other brands of external drives and those have all since failed. My Fantom drives outlived them all. The only problem I had with one was recently with the drive I use for a media center. I was no longer able to access files on it with Windows. I discovered that the DVD player I had it…
