Pros: I build computers for a hobby – I really like PC hardware. I am a little addicted. My last one was an MSI X570 with a R5 5600X. I went for early adoption on Z690 as I worried things would just not be available like with Nvidia RTX 30 series cards for example. Pros: Running Windows 11, i7-12700k, 32GB DDR4 RAM @ 3200MHz stable aside from network controller Cons: This motherboard uses an Intel I225-V Networking Controller which has caused network outages, blue screens, and inability to shut down my desktop cleanly. It installed with firmware 1.0.2.4(had issues). Windows 11updated it to 1.0.2.6(had issues). Support website updated them to 1.0.2.14(same issues). Pros: – Looks just as cool as ROG variant – Uses DDR4. Cheaper and easier to find. Pros: Easy straightforward board. Paired with an Intel I7-12700K, Noctua NH-D15S Chromax, 32GB of Viper Steel XMP2.0 DDR3600, and a repurposed Samsung 970 EVO, EVGA GTX 980TI, Crucial SSD, and an 850 Corsair PS. Pros: – Seems to work eventually Cons: – Didn’t work with ethernet right out of the box like other vendors. Had to manually move drivers by USB. See all the complaints on reddit for more info. – RGB features won’t work without installing Armory Create software which is a huge pile of junky bloatware software.
