Pros: it has WPA 3 Security which is the strongest WIFI Security. It also has a commercial; grade security that frequently updates the signatures of malicious things on the Web. it has WIFI 6 which is the fastest WIFI today. Cons: The RT-86U is easy to set up but in my case the WIFI 6 network cards in both computers had what I thought was the most recent driver, but the latest were released in September 2020 and neither my desktop nor laptop could connect to the internet with the RT-86U router even though I had the driver release that was most recent before the September driver release. I might caution you to have the most recent WIFI card driver installed before connecting this router. Fortunately, I have free WIFI in the building and had to switch to that to download the driver. Overall Review: After getting everything working with the RT-AX86U I think it is a great router. It is fast and has many setting. I like the parental controls and thought that might work for even me so I won’t be taken to some sites because of typos I sometimes make. But if you are the administrator, don’t check adult in parental control. You cannot even get Microsoft update downloads. It even blocks you from going to a Bible software site. I also like the fact that it has several options for wireless security. It is also dual band. So both computers and the cellphone are fine with the 5 gig band with WPA 3 WIFI security. But things like streaming players and smart TV’s were not. They like the 2.4 gig band with WPA 2. So if you have one SSID for both the 5 and 2.4 gig bands and choose WPA 2 / WPA 3 Personal with smart connect enabled, the computers and smart phone will connect to the 5 gig band with WPA 3 wireless security and the TV and other things will will connect to the 2.4 gig band with WPA 2 and work fine

Pros: – Easy setup – AX/Wifi 6 – WPA3 – VPN Server – IPS – DDNS – IPv6 – Regular Firmware Updates Cons: – None Overall Review: I’m a network engineer and I am a big fan of Asus routers, this is my 3rd and replaces my RT-AC68r. I started years ago with a RT-N66, which I handed down to my parents and still recieves firmware updates. That is the biggest feature that keeps me using Asus, regular updates that fix security vulnerabilities (and sometimes adds features). I think Asus routers are the best consumer grade routers on the market for that reason alone. So many features bulit in. A neat feature this model has is Alexa and IFTT support (wish they’d add Google Assistant support). I also really like having the openVPN server, this model adds IPSEC but I haven’t tried it yet. Would be nice if they added IPSEC site-to-site support. IPS features are nice. I also use AiCloud for NAS. Guest network that blocks intranet access and can set bandwidth limiter is also really nice feature.

Overall Review: My office is a LONG way from where my access point has to reside (due to where my fiber line enters my house and I was able to run ethernet. No router has been able to sufficiently reach my office until this one. I previously tried a Belkin and a Linksys WRT32X. This Asus blows it out of the water and is worth every penny.

Overall Review: The router is by far the best one i have ever used it works as intended. Its a bit pricey but i think it makes up for it in the long run!

Pros: 2.5 Gb/s WAN port Exceptional software support Works well with older Asus routers to form mesh networks Cons: A little pricey at $250 With only one 5 GHz band, it needs a wired backhaul for efficient mesh networking. Overall Review: Used it to replace an RT-AC68U purchased in 2015. That unit still receives regular software updates and feature drops, BTW. Had no problem setting up the mesh network with my older router and it works as expected. I used the 2.5 Gb/s port for the WAN connection to the matching port on my Motorola MB8611 cable modem. That allows the 1 Gb/s WAN port to become a fifth LAN port. I’m very happy with my purchase.

Pros: Far end of the house used to get 1 or 2 bars on the phone. With this router Im getting full bars. This router has great reach. My phone is now using WiFi6 and is super speedy. As is my laptop. A great purchase. Setup was a breeze. Cons: None! Overall Review: Recommended. Simple setup. Plug-in and do a couple items on the phone ap.

Pros: I’m very impressed overall much faster than my old router. I also noticed it also reaches further. Cons: My only complaint is set up is a nightmare & tech support well let’s just say your better on your own. I’m very fortunate I figured out how to set up on my own. Overall Review: My overall opinion if you get past set up definitely worth it.
