Pros: Fast hard drive (I upgraded from a 5400 RPM drive), lots of space, pretty much everything you could want from a drive. Cons: No cons with the hard drive itself (see other thoughts) Overall Review: I know hard drives always have the possibility to fail randomly, that’s just the nature of the beast, however you should hope that yours doesn’t fail. While HGST will hand you the RMA if it’s still under warranty, their return process is insane. Their shipping requirements are incredibly…

Pros: Bought this drive here on NewEgg for fifty nine $. Great price for this drive considering it’s a 1TB in a 2.5″ shell and only 9.5mm thick. The 7,200 RPM and 32 MB Cache is a definite speed improvement over any older 5,400 RPM laptop replacement drive. My CrystalDiskMar speed test resulted in 132 MB/s READ and 119 MB/s write scores. Pretty zippy for a little drive! It also has a great shock protection rating which is a big plus for laptops. It does get a little warm to the touch, but…

Pros: Nicw drive. Test pretty fast for a 2.5 in 7200 rpm drive HD Tach test at avg. of 129mb/s with burst speeds of 398mb/s peeked over 400mb/s on burst speed.a few times during testing. Fairly quick access times as well. Nice upgrade from the 500gb 5400rpm drive it replaced. Been running flawlessly for almost a year now. Cons: Not a one.

Pros: Works. Cons: None (yet, being a HD). Overall Review: Filled the drive with random data and then ran repeated S.M.A.R.T. long-tests on it for a day without errors or any reallocated or unrecoverable sectors.

Pros: – Price – Storage capacity Cons: – Flat out died day 34 – 2 days after Neweggs standard return of product expires Overall Review: MY first and last HGST branded drive. Ordered for a customers repair which is embarrasing enough. His OS was on a SSD, this HGST drive was his storage drive for games etc. Locking his laptop up completely with it installed now. Any attempt to run drive test freezes & locks up. Docking it into another pc locks the entire pc up also. Day 34 it craps out, just…

Pros: We have been purchasing HGST drives since they were branded as Hitachi. I don’t remember even one failure over the last 20 years even though we’ve had several failures from two other major brands. Yes those two. Reliability is important to us, more than performance, not only because of the data but because returning drives under warranty is a big hassle and the refurbs you get in return are not to be depended on. Cons: No cons. Overall Review: It would be great if HGST were a little…
