Pros: The BR1000G is APC’s latest commercial-use product in the 1 KVA range. Like the older products, the battery unit is 12V, 7Ah, so the rated backup capacity is about 84 Wh, and the practical capacity is probably around 60 Wh. The new battery is “sans cables” and instead has a cleverly designed, recessed pair of battery tabs that mate with a connector inside the BR1000G chassis. The warranty is 3 years, in line with the older BX series, and including the original battery. Cons: APC must think that an LCD display is a “pro” but not to us. Any practical backup uses a software interface. We would prefer to can the LCD and save money. The APC BR1000G interfaces to the usual PowerChute software, but the kit as shipped did not include a CD, although the user guide said there would be one. Overall Review: Newegg delivered the product to our East Coast location by UPS ground in just one business day. It is working at a customer site as a plug-and-go replacement for an older APC model BX900R that is complaining of a battery in need of replacement. Field experience with the BX900R indicates it sometime makes that complaint when the real problem is a charging circuit failure, so we’re trying a battery replacement in our shop to see what happens. The BR1000G was just released in late spring, 2010, and replacement batteries are not yet available. APC has been pricing replacements in this energy range at $80 to $90, a hefty fraction of the $125 we paid to Newegg for the unit. Alternative sources, such as American Battery, have been getting $30 to $40 retail for replacements in that energy range. They will have a tougher time sourcing this unit, because it does not use standard gel-cell modules connected via power cabling to standard 1/4-inch battery tabs.

Pros: First of all – Active PFC. Yes, stepped sine-wave UPSs will support Active PFC, provided the following condition is met: the PSU rating must be no more than 2/3 the load rating of the UPS. The reason is that after the 8ms delay of the UPS battery switchover, an active PFC PSU will attempt to draw max current from the UPS, and if the PSU wattage is too high, will overload the UPS. I have been running a Seasonic SIII 330W Bronze 80+ with active PFC for a couple of years with no problem, but that is connected to a Back-Ups Pro 1400. I also have a Smart-UPS 1400. This BR1000G is actually for my father to provide backup power for his clock radio, cordless phone, and a lamp with a Phillips 12.5W LED light. The BR1000G says it will provide 5.5 hrs of runtime with the LED light off and 4.5 hrs with the LED light on. Cons: I experimented with various low loads and the remaining run-time display does not seem very accurate. I say this when I see that when running on battery, the remaining run-time drops by more than 1 minute every minute. Perhaps the run-time/minute drop reaches a 1:1 ratio on average later but I did not run it that long.

Pros: It’s pretty, LCD screen is useful. Cons: It’s died twice on me. Overall Review: RMA process was smooth and hassle free, would rather have had a product that didn’t fail TWICE. Especially when this is supposed to be a product that prevents failures. My old APC 1500 was a beast that lasted 5 years, my br1500G however has been unreliable. They are sending me a different model this time.

Pros: Master/Slave configuration. This is a nice feature, because you can turn off certain devices when you turn the main devices off (e.g. Computer/Monitor). An easy to read LCD display. This feature is a good one because you can see how much you are pulling on your load and see how many times your battery was activated by power outages, brown outs, etc. A mute function. For those who don’t want to hear the beeps. Plenty of outlets. 10 outlets will provide you with more than enough protection for all of your devices. PowerChute software. Quiet. Even when it goes through the self-test this UPS is quiet. You do get the audible buzz when the battery kicks in, but that is to be expected. The fan is quiet, also (at least on the one that I received). I guess that APC fixed the fan issue that other consumers have had, because mine does not have that problem. I have not had any problems with this unit yet, but I will update this review if I do have any issues. As it stands right now, this UPS is awesome. Cons: None. Overall Review: I’d recommend this product to my friends and family. This is a reliable product and I have not had any problems within the first day. It’s still running great, but I will update this review if any issues occur. APC makes some great products. I recommend this product to anyone. Don’t think about it, go and buy it. You won’t be disappointed.

Pros: Very nice unit with good information displayed on it (current watt usage, etc.), nice features with power control of other devices (speakers, monitors, etc.) from main device. Cons: Battery pack was a little temperamental getting to seat properly on pins when installing it. First thought I had it and battery was just drained, but eventually figured out it was not charging and it did not see the batter installed at all (guide did not indicate what flashing battery meant). Turned out one of the connector pins on the battery pack pushed in instead of seating in mating clips. Even heard the little connection electric pop when seating so sounded good, but alas it was not. The connectors on the battery pack is recessed and when it pushed the pin in my smallest needle nose pliers could barely grab the pin to pull it back out. Luckily I could and was extra careful to line up and re-seat it again. But all good in the long run. Don’t like how these newer UPS battery packs try to force you to buy the replacements from them directly rather than getting your own – it can still be done, but they made it far more difficult now to get your own. Yes, only get theirs if it is still under warranty or you use their warranty coverage. Overall Review: Very nice UPS for the price and I do like the APC brand overall

Pros: Was exactly what I was looking for. Easy to install, slim and fits with my personal machines nicely and attaching the USB cable to monitor status was done in minutes. The monitoring worked perfectly as well, see cons. Cons: After I received and installed the UPS it lasted for exactly 36 days (continuous use). I received an email alert that the battery needed to be replaced. Checked the front panel of the device and sure enough, battery light was flashing. The system was never stressed out. In those 36 days there was one, half a second, power blip (machines remained online). Overall Review: Given that APC is one of the more well known backup suppliers I was a bit surprised by the speed of this failure. A return/replacement is underway so I’ll have to wait it out to see if I was just very unlucky or if I’ll be trying a different brand in the future.

Pros: -Looks nice -Easy to set up Cons: Unreliable! Overall Review: I started using this UPS around Christmas of 2017. One morning in March I heard beeping from the unit and it was flashing “F06,” which is a non-user-servicable failure. Everything connected has been suddenly powered down. I held the power button for about 10sec. until the beeping stopped. Pressing the power button again and it powered everything up. I contacted APC support and they said to disconnect power and batteries and then hold the power button for 5sec. and “share {my} observation.” A few days later and the same thing happened. I cannot trust the UPS at all, as it is cutting power to my server more often than the wall outlet. I’ve opened another case with APC/Schneider electric. I hope they will replace the unit at no cost to me.
