Pros: Shipped in sturdy box with plastic-foam inserts which conformed to the computer, making it very safe. Computer works very well. Overall Review: I got this for a friend to use in his home office. I put Ubuntu 18 on it and he says it’s working great.

Pros: The internal hardware was as described and I was able to read the W7 Pro product key but a few characters were almost too faded. The key is valid.I checked the status of the hard drive and it reports “Good”, the “reallocated sector count” is currently “normal”. Cons: Functionally: The computer did NOT work properly. Upon initial startup, the computer appeared to boot normally and then it went to essentially a “setup” mode AS IF someone was trying to install/setup Windows but STOPPED…

Overall Review: I got this HP Elite 8300 to replace an HP-6005 which was running Windows 7 Pro. I was happy to see this unit was Win7 also. I’ve been fine without MS support since they bailed and have had no problems with my existing Windows 7 setup. My hardware has gotten pretty old so that’s why the change. I needed more speed, more memory, etc. I don’t want to use my old Win7 HDD because I’m afraid I may just transfer residual problems with registries etc., if there are any, to the new…

Pros: I slapped a new PSU in* and used a PCI extension cable for a GTX 960. It is a very ugly setup, but it runs IIDX Infinitas like a champion on the cheap. Cons: *There’s something about the voltage supplied to the motherboard from the PSU that’s proprietary. I had to buy a $20 cable jerry-rigged together from some seller on [large online retail site] in order to upgrade the PSU. I was also having overheating issues until I reapplied thermal paste to the CPU – no surprise there, but please…

Pros: The price was good. Cons: It was full of dust bunnies and dirt, including on the outside vents. How could they miss that? Since they obviously did not open it up, I question the “refurbished” claim. It looks like they just reformatted the hard drive, stuffed it in a box, and shipped it. I installed a second Ethernet adapter (NIC) so I could use this as a firewall. However, the motherboard Ethernet adapter kept dropping offline and resetting every 30 seconds or to. This made the system…
